SECURE20: Secure20 e-Security Solutions is Accepted as a Certified Security Evaluator within the REALTOR® Secure Program
San Francisco, CA, January 14, 2004 - Secure20, an acknowledged leader in internet security services with extensive experience in the Financial and Technology industries, is proud to announce its acceptance into the exclusive REALTOR® Secure program. This program may serve as an important model for other industries.
The National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) Center for REALTOR® Technology (CRT) will look to Secure20 as a leader in this new and original certification program that assists REALTORS® in the prevention of business interruptions and the protection of information from internal and external risks. CRT based the program on the security industry's best practices and models proven to work in securing access to data.
Secure20 will be responsible for retaining the overall integrity of the program through its evaluation process. To obtain the certification, the MLS or broker must meet the exacting criteria outlined in the program and as evaluated by Secure20. Secure20 will then send a thorough evaluation report to the CRT for final approval and certification. Upon certification, CRT awards a REALTOR® Secure program logo and lists the participant on the program Web site.
Secure20 is also well positioned to assist Realtor clients who need help to understand what new state and government security and privacy regulations mean to them. Many may not be aware that if client information is compromised, they may be required to make all of their clients aware of it -- by law. The ramifications of this, for such a personal business as Real Estate, could be dramatic.
Mr. Michael Harris, Founder of Secure20 quotes, “Historically, security had been a higher priority for financial institutions than non-financial institutions because of long-standing oversight and regulations. Realtors, at times, act as the front-end to financial institutions, - collecting, storing, and forwarding large amounts of private customer financial information. Now that the new regulations apply to almost all organizations, many companies are scrambling to implement security controls in a relatively short timeframe. Our experience in servicing high-security financial institutions over many years will prove invaluable and positions us well to assist. Our value will be to help organizations determine the right level of security that is cost-effective and sustainable.”
"As the industry leader, NAR is setting the standard in real estate technology. The REALTOR® Secure program is vital to MLSs, brokers and associations. It helps secure the digital future of REALTORS®.", said Mark Lesswing, Vice President for the Center for REALTOR® Technology at NAR. "We are excited to have Secure20 in our program. We encourage members to seek out a certified evaluator, like Secure20, and begin discussions as to certification and as to their overall security and privacy postures. We all must work together to preserve and protect our client's valuable and most personal information. A company like Secure20, with a history in information security, will add tremendous value to association members who want to attain the REALTOR® Secure designation."
